Sunday 5th January: Community Garden Tour

Shandon Local Food Group’s community gardeners (Sue, Teresa, Martyn, Eddie, Margon and children) would like to welcome you to join us on Sunday 5th January for a fun session in the Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens- all ages welcome (though children should be supervised by a parent/carer).

Please meet Teresa at the community notice board outside Margiotta’s on Harrison Gardens at 1:30 pm next Sunday 5th January so we can walk over to the gardens together; or meet us at 2 pm at the gardens (directions below).

We will take a tour (with treasure hunt theme) of the existing garden and the new proposed site.  We’ll collect some things as we go and create a “nature art gallery” when we get back to base.  We’ll have a fire (and/or use a storm kettle depending on the weather) and have tea, mulled apple juice and snack.

Please let Sue know if you are planning to come (mckendrick2007@talktalk.net so we can manage numbers).  For insurance purposes, please make sure you are a Shandon Local Food Group member – simply email shandonfood@hotmail.co.uk.

Directions: From Shandon go along Myreside Road, past the Watsons Pavillion, stadium and foot bridge; after 100 metres you will see the garden entrance through a large black gate on the left hand side.  There is a portacabin with toilet, tools and small kitchen where we meet.

Hope to see you there on Sunday 5th January or any first Sunday of each month at 2 pm.  Please see the gallery of pictures below for photos from previous Sunday sessions.
